• Miniature Painting Workshop in Bjelovar

  	At the end of March and beginning of April, we held our first miniature painting workshop in Bjelovar. We held them in cooperation with the "Petar Preradović" National Library from Bjelovar, to which we would like to once again thank for the opportunity to demonstrate our hobby to young people in this city.
  
  	
  
  	The first, introductory workshop was led by our Dalibor Čavić, the original creator of this series of workshops. He showed the attendees some of his work and explained the theory behind basic miniature painting in an interesting one-hour lecture.
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	Due to Dalibor's illness, our Dean Vuković stepped in to lead the second workshop. The second session was reserved for the practical application of the acquired knowledge.
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	Eight participants had the opportunity to paint miniatures provided by the Association, but some decided to paint their own miniatures, which Dean naturally made possible.

  	Krajem ožujka i početkom travnja održali smo prve radionice bojanja minijatura u Bjelovaru. Održali smo ih u suradnji sa Narodnom knjižnicom "Petar Preradović" iz Bjelovara kojoj se ovim putem još jednom zahvaljujemo na prilici da demonstriramo naš hobi mladima u ovom nama bliskom gradu.
  
  	
  
  	Prvu, uvodnu radionicu je vodio naš Dalibor Čavić, idejni začetnik ovog serijala radionica. Prisutnima je pokazao neke od svojih radova i objasnio teoriju iza osnovnog bojanja minijatura u zanimljivom jednosatnom predavanju.
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	Za vođenje druge radionice, uskočio je naš Dean Vuković zbog bolesti Dalibora. Drugi termin bio je rezerviran za praktičnu primjenu stečenih znanja.

• Hobby Stores in Japan

  	Last year our Ili went to Japan and was kind enough to write a short story about the hobby stores she visited while there.
  
  	  
  
  	I was 3 weeks in Japan and being a geeky (and admittedly an Otaku), of course I spent most of my time there at the famous Akihabara.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	Akihabara Electric Town or simply Akihabara is a district in central Tokyo that is famous for its many electronics shops and has also gained recognition as the center of Japan's otaku culture. You can find everything ranging from practical electronics models or parts to gaming and anime merchandise and of course model kits and miniatures.
  
  	  
  
  	What my partner and I didn’t expect is that all stores here are at least 5 floors and the most I know have even 10 floors! Above is probably the most famous building in Akihabara, the Akihabara Radio Kaikan. The building is 46.5 m high, is ten levels from the ground floor and has two basement levels. The current building primarily hosts stores selling otaku goods.

  	Since we are about building and painting miniature models, the place you MUST visit is VOLKS AKIHABARA HOBBY PARADISE 2 (Hobby Paradise 2) - it is a dream destination for every hobbyist. This massive seven-floor store is filled with everything from character goods and figures to model kits, tools, paints, and more.
  
  	On the topic of Volks, it began as a small hobby shop in 1972. In the late 1990s they produced the first Dollfie dolls, and in 1999 the first Super Dollfie doll was created by Akihiro Enku. In November 2005, Volks USA opened their first American Tenshi no Sumika store in Los Angeles, California.
  
  	  
  
  	We are going to talk a bit about Dollfie. Dollfie dolls were customization tools such as pre-rooted hair and stick-on eye decals. Later, complete dolls were released. There are various body types, male and female, with several forms and skin tones for both as well as a line of child-sized dolls. The company also produces tools and materials to customize and maintain dolls.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	Basically they are almost like customising and painting miniature but on a bigger scale. This is a hobby I have had since 2005 (but only become very active in 2017).

  	One place you need to visit if you're into retro gaming is SUPER POTATO! They have 6 stores total, one is in Akihabara, Tokyo and the one in Nipponbashi, Osaka is a lot bigger and has more things to offer. All the photos I shared above are from the Osaka branch. Super Potato had been referred by many as "a museum as much as a shop" based on how visitors serendipitously interact with the games on display.

  	Prošle godine naša Ili je bila u Japanu i bila je toliko ljubazna da je napisala kratku priču o hobby trgovinama koje je posjetila dok je bila tamo.
  
  	  
  
  	Bila sam 3 tjedna u Japanu i, budući da sam geeky (i priznajem otaku), naravno da sam većinu vremena provela tamo u poznatoj Akihabari.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	Akihabara Electric Town ili jednostavno Akihabara je četvrt u središnjem Tokiju poznata po brojnim trgovinama elektronikom, a stekla je i priznanje kao središte japanske otaku kulture. Možete pronaći sve, od praktičnih modela ili dijelova elektronike do igraće i anime robe, pa sve do kompleta modela i minijatura.
  
  	  
  
  	Ono što moj partner i ja nismo očekivali jest da sve trgovine ovdje imaju barem 5 katova, a većina koje poznajem ima čak 10 katova! Iznad je vjerojatno najpoznatija zgrada u Akihabari, Akihabara Radio Kaikan. Zgrada je visoka 46,5 m, nalazi se na deset katova od prizemlja i ima dva podrumska kata.   	Budući da se bavimo izradom i bojanjem minijaturnih modela, mjesto koje MORATE posjetiti je VOLKS AKIHABARA HOBBY PARADISE 2 (Hobby Paradise 2) - to je destinacija iz snova za svakog hobista. Ova ogromna trgovina na sedam katova puna je svega, od robe s likovima i figurama do maketa, alata, boja i još mnogo toga.
  
  	Što se tiče Volksa, započeo je kao mala hobi trgovina 1972. Krajem 1990-ih proizveli su prve Dollfie lutke, a 1999. Akihiro Enku stvorio je prvu Super Dollfie lutku. U studenom 2005. Volks USA otvorio je svoju prvu američku trgovinu Tenshi no Sumika u Los Angelesu u Kaliforniji.
  
  	  
  
  	Pisat ću malo o Dollfieju. Dollfie lutke bile su alati za prilagodbu poput unaprijed ukorijenjene kose i naljepnica za oči koje se samoljepe. Kasnije su izdane i gotove lutke. Postoje različiti tipovi tijela, muški i ženski, s nekoliko oblika i tonova kože za oboje, kao i linija lutaka dječje veličine. Tvrtka također proizvodi alate i materijale za prilagodbu i održavanje lutaka.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	U osnovi su gotovo kao prilagodba i bojanje minijatura, ali u većoj skali. Ovo je hobi koji prakticiram od 2005. (ali sam postala vrlo aktivna tek 2017.).

  	Jedno mjesto koje morate posjetiti ako volite retro igre je SUPER POTATO! • Red Temple of Light - Board for Necropolis28 campaign

  	This year, Agram Arena – an international tabletop strategy game competition – was back on the schedule. The team decided to organize a two-day campaign for Necropolis 28. It is an interesting game that has a very good hobby aspect, as it also involves making a gaming board. So I decided to join in and make one.   	I imagined the terrain as a temple made of brick towers, connected by bridges. Aesthetically, I wanted it to look like it was in the process of being demolished or built.
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	I made the towers from cardboard rolls for holding blueprints from local newspapers and for rolls of foil.
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	The decision to texture the bricks fell on cutting individual bricks from XPS, since that way I could get the most realistic joints between the towers and bridges.
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	
  
  	Since it seemed too tall for practical use in the game, I decided to magnetize the towers and separate them from the base – that way I can store everything more easily and the players can remove the tower for easier play.

  	Teren sam zamislio kao hram načinjen od ciglenih tornjeva, povezanih mostovima. Estetski sam htio da izgleda kao da je u procesu rušenja ili gradnje.

  	Kako mi se činilo previsoko za praktičnu uporabu u igri, odlučio sam magnetizirati tornjeve i odvojiti ih od baze – tako mogu sve lakše spremiti i igrači mogu maknuti toranj za lakšu igru.

• Acropolis Board for Necropolis28 Campaign

  	The first thing to do was to cut a board of good dimensions. The boards are 16’’x16’’, or 40cm x 40cm. Luckily, I had a board that width so I “only” needed to cut one cut to get the right size board. After sawing, I sanded the cut and placed the 3D printed parts of the Greek (Athena) temple and was quite happy with the layout.
  
  	  
  
  	After that, I started adding volume to the base using Styrofoam. I used 2cm and 5cm thick boards..
  
  	  
  
  	Then I started to cut out the shape of the terrain. In places I decided to have small cliffs, and in other parts to have a slight slope. In parallel, I placed elements (temple, pillars, cypresses) at each step to check how everything worked..
  
  	  
  
  	I made a frame out of 25x5mm slats, and then started filling the holes between the boards (PVA and DAS clay mortar) and adding cliffs (tree bark).
  
  	  
  
  	Then I added texture – I sprinkled sand of different grain sizes onto the PVA base. I sprinkled the road with the smallest grain size, while the future grassy terrain received two or, in some places, three grain sizes..
  
  	  
  
  	When everything was dry, I sprayed everything black and then white and started painting with the primary colors.
  
  	  
  
  	Then I drew out the highlights in lighter shades and added details like ivy on the columns and patina on the bronze statues..
  
  	  
  
  	The next step was to add vegetation. I used two types of static grass, as well as tufts and shrubs. Finally, I planted cypress trees in the avenue..
  
  	  
  
  	The last detail was the addition of Charybdis, or rather its tentacles, which were also 3D printed.
  
  	  
  
  	The last step was to add the resin. I used Gedeo Crystal Resin tinted with blue Pebeo Vitrail, while the waves were made of water gel. That completed the board!

  	Prvo što je valjalo napraviti je bilo izrezati ploču dobrih dimenzija. Table su 16’’x16’’, odnosno 40cm x 40cm. Srećom, imao sam dasku te širine pa sam “samo” trebao izrezati jedan rez da bih dobio tablu prave veličine. Nakon piljenja, pobrusio sam rez i postavio 3D printane dijelove grčkog (Ateninog) hrama i bio podosta zadovoljan rasporedom.
  
  	  
  
  	Nakon toga, od stirodura sam krenuo dodavati volumen na bazu. Koristio sam 2cm i 5cm debele ploče.
  
  	  
  
  	Zatim sam krenuo izrezivati oblik terena. Na mjestima sam odlučio imati male litice, a drugi dio pak da bude lagana kosina. Paralelno sam i svakom koraku postavljao elemente (hram, stupove, čemprese) da provjerim kako sve funkcionira.
  
  	  
  
  	Od letvica 25x5mm sam napravio okvir, a potom krenuo popunjavati rupe između ploča (PVA i DAS glinamol) te dodavati litice (kora od drveta).
  
  	  
  
  	Potom sam dodao teksturu – na PVA podlogu sam posipao pjesak različite granulacije. Put sam posipao najmanjom granulacijom, dok je budući travnati teren dobio dvije ili mjestimično tri granulacije.
  
  	  
  
  	Kada se sve osušilo, posprejao sam sve u crno pa zatim u bijelo te krenuo bojati osnovnim bojama.
  
  	  
  
  	Zatim sam izvukao hajlajte svjetlijim nijansama te dodao detalje poput bršljana po stupovima i patine na brončanim kipovima.
  
  	  
  
  	Sljedeći korak bilo je dodavanje vegetacije. Koristio sam dvije vrste statičke trave te tuftove i grmlje. Za kraj posadio sam i čemprese u drvored.
  
  	  
  
  	Zadnji detalj bilo je dodavanje Haribde, odnosno njenih krakova koji su također bili 3D print.
  
  	  
  
  	Posljednji korak bilo je dodavanje rezina. Koristio sam Gedeo Crystal Resin obojan u plavu Pebeo Vitrail boju, dok su valovi izrađeni od water gela. Time je završena izrada table!

  	The exhibition of miniatures and models "Agram 2026" was held this year from 19.2. to 08.03. 2026. The exhibition was set up on Wednesday 18.2. and was attended by a large number of members and friends of the Association who exhibited their works.

  	As always, the Exhibition presented a cross-section of the work of the Association, its members, participants of its courses and workshops, and members of the Miniature Painters Croatia FB group. In a large number of showcases, there were numerous miniatures for tabletop strategy games, board games, and an entire showcase was dedicated to award-winning exhibits from previous miniature competitions. Several showcases were dedicated to projects that the Association has been implementing for 23 years, such as the UMS „Agram“ Library and Reading Room, the Workshop for Making Spatial Models and the Miniature Painting Workshop, as well as new ones such as the Agram Group Build, the Agram Lego Section and the Back to Basics painting workshop for the youngest.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	It was a special honor for us to host our guest exhibitor, Ninoslav Luk, a miniaturist from Poreč, who introduced himself to us with his collection of historical dioramas.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	During the first weekend of the Exhibition, 21-22.02., we held the 18th annual international miniature painting competition Black Queen Hobby and Miniature Painting Competition!
  
  	  
  
  	As contestants arrived and registered for the competition, our hardworking staff photographed all the exhibits before sorting them into categories and carefully placing them in glass cases. There was no shortage of morning neccessities like coffe and doughnuts.

  	MINIATURE PAINTING WORKSHOPS
  
  	The ZZTK premises allow workshops to be held during the weekend in the cinema hall in the basement, so we also organized demonstration workshops during the weekend. The lecturers' work was recorded with a camera and projected onto the projection screen in the hall. Many thanks to our domestic and international lecturers: Anže Zorko (SLO), doc.dr.sc.   	SPEED PAINTING COMPETITION
  
  	We organized a speed painting competition on Sunday afternoon. Participants had 60 minutes to paint one wizrad, a miniature of our own design and production.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	
  
  	With that, we came to the very end of this wonderful weekend and all that was left was the awarding of prizes and recognition to the winners.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	AGRAM ARENA – Leaving Asphodel Necropolis28 Campaign
  
  	During the weekend of February 21-22, we held a new international competition, Agram Arena! This time it was the turn of the tabletop strategy game Necropolis28, for which our members designed a two-day campaign.   	EVENTS ON WEEKDAYS DURING THE EXHIBITION 
  
  	Over the next two weeks, our volunteers held open miniature painting workshops on weekdays from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.   	AGRAM LEGO SECTION lecture: FW-14b – An F1 racecar for the future
  
  	On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as part of the activities of our Agram Lego Section, our resident mechanical engineer Marko Paunović gave a lecture on the topic of the F1 racecar from 1992.   	During the second weekend of the Exhibition, 28.02.-01.03., we organized a MINIATURE PAINTING WORKSHOP - Grimdark.
  
  	The workshop was held over two days (the entire weekend) and participants painted up to three different figures for the game Trench Crusade. The focus of these lectures was on painting the popular grimdark style minis. The workshop presented paints and equipment, figure preparation, several miniature painting techniques from basic to advanced, and techniques and tricks for quickly and efficiently painting larger quantities of figures at once.   	On Wednesday 04.03.2026. the annual session of the Assembly was held, where we determined the guidelines for work in 2026.

  	Izložba minijatura i maketa "Agram 2026" održala se ove godine od 19.2. do 08.03. Postavljanje izložbe je održano u srijedu 18.2. i sudjelovao je velik broj članova kao i prijatelja Udruge koji su izlagali svoje radove.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	Otvorenje Izložbe održalo se u četvrtak, 19.2.2026. s početkom u 18:00h. Izložba je organizirana povodom našeg dvadeset trećeg rođendana.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	Kao i uvijek, Izložba je prikazivala presjek rada Udruge, njenih članova, polaznika njenih tečajeva i radionica te članova FB grupe Miniature Painters Croatia. U velikom broju vitrina našle su se brojne minijature za stolne strateške igre, igre na tabli, a cijela jedna vitrina posvećena je nagrađenim izlošcima sa prethodnih minijaturističkih natjecanja. Nekoliko vitrina bilo je posvećeno projektima koje Udruga već 23 godinu provodi poput Knjižnice i čitaonice UMS „Agram“, Radionice za izradu prostornih maketa i Radionice bojanja minijatura, ali i novih poput Agram Group Build, Agram Lego Sekcije i Back to Basics radionica bojanja za najmlađe.

  	Tijekom prvog vikenda Izložbe, 21.-22.02.,održali smo 20. godišnje međunarodno natjecanje u bojanju minijatura Black Queen Hobby and Miniature Painting Competition!
  
  	  
  
  	Kako su natjecatelji pristizali i prijavljivali se na natjecanje, naše vrijedno osoblje je fotografiralo sve izloške prije nego li su ih rasporedili po kategorijama i pažljivo ih postavili u staklene vitrine.   	OGLEDNE RADIONICE BOJANJA MINIJATURA
  
  	Prostor ZZTK omogućuje održavanje radionica tijekom vikenda u kino dvorani u podrumu, stoga smo tijekom vikenda organizirali i ogledne radionice. Rad predavača snimao se kamerom i projicirao na projekcijsko platno u dvorani. Veliko hvala našim domaćim i inozemnim predavačima: Anžetu Zorku (SLO), doc.dr.sc.   	NATJECANJE U BRZOM BOJANJU MINIJATURA
  
  	U nedjelju, 22.2. smo organizirali natjecanje u brzom bojanju minijatura. Po prvi puta smo koristili minijature koje su naš dizajn. Sudionici su imali 60 minuta vremena da obojaju og čarobnjaka.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	
  
  	S time smo došli do samoga kraja ovog predivnog vikenda i sve što je preostalo je bila podjela nagrada i priznanja pobjednicima.

Ovoga puta na redu je bila stolna strateška igra Necropolis 28 za koju su naši članovi osmislili dvodnevnu kampanju.   	DOGAĐANJA RADNIM DANIMA ZA VRIJEME IZLOŽBE
  
  	Tijekom naredna dva tjedna, naši volonteri su radnim danima od 16:00 do 20:00, držali otvorene radionice bojanja minijatura.   	AGRAM LEGO SEKCIJA predavanje: FW-14b – Bolid F1 za budućnost
  
  	U srijedu 25.2.2026. u sklopu aktivnosti naše Agram Lego Sekcije, naš dežurni strojar Marko Paunović je održao predavanje na temu bolida Formule 1 iz 1992..   	Tijekom drugog vikenda Izložbe, 28.02.-01.03., organizirali smo RADIONICU BOJANJA MINIJATURA – Grimdark stil.
  
  	Radionica se provodila kroz dva dana (cijeli vikend) i polaznici su bojali tri različite figure za igru Trench Crusade. Fokus ovih predavanja bilo je bojenje popularnim Grimdark stilom. Na radionici su bile predstavljene boje i pribor, priprema figura, nekoliko tehnika bojenja minijatura od osnovnih do naprednijih, te tehnike i trikovi za brzo i efikasno bojenje većih količina figura odjednom. U sklopu radionice korištene su akrilne boje na bazi vode.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	U srijedu 04.03.2026. održana je godišnja sjednica Skupštine na kojoj smo odredili smjernice rada u 2026.
  
  	  
  
  	U nedjelju 08.03.2026. Izložba je završena, naši eksponati sigurno spremljeni, a Galerija počišćena.
  
  	  
  
  	  
  
  	Najbitniji dio svake godine prilikom održavanja ove Izložbe je socijalni aspekt, druženje naših članova kako međusobno tako i sa našim međunarodnim prijateljima koji nas posjećuju! Uz ovih par fotografija sa zajedničkih druženja, pozdravljamo vas do sljedeće godine!
