Black Templars Sword Brother – part 5
In this series of articles, I will explain my approach to painting a Black Templar Sword Brother from the old metal box.
I then painted the wires of the claws green, and I used Intermediate Green by Vallejo Model Color, then a Green Black Wash by Secret Weapon Miniatures, and finally a highlight using Irati Green by Scale 75.
I then proceeded to freehand another Maltese Cross using a brush. This procedure is very sensitive, and I wouldn’t recommend it to those who are impatient and nervous. It is necessary to do it slowly and patiently, because a mistake is easily made, I would also recommend to use oil paints instead of acrylics (which I happened to use this time), because using the Enamel Odourless Thinner makes it simple to correct mistakes, as well as remove excess paint.
Even though this step is already visible in the previous photographs, I will explain it here in detail. Edge or line highlighting is a procedure wherein using a thin brush and thin lines, we highlight the edges of large and jagged surfaces. This is also a sensitive and error-prone procedure, and is not recommended for beginners and those who are impatient.
In this particular case, I used Rainy Grey and Brown Grey from Scale 75, from a darker shade to a lighter one.
After Mario, whom I would also like to take this opportunity to thank, saw the miniature, he suggested the I make a further highlight on the shoulder pads, so I used the same glazing procedure explained earlier to highlight the reliefs.
