Agram Group Build Report 02/22
In this series of articles we will follow our Goran, Kruno, Dalibor, Domagoj i Marko while making dioramas and painting figures divided into several projects as a part of Agram Group Build Projects. The main idea is to let everyone make something on each project and the chief rule (apart that there are no rules) is not to tamper with another persons work. To let everyone partake and make several Frankenstein monsters…
KRUNO: The model already had “gaps” between the parts after assembly. I used GSW green stuff in tubes to fill in the gaps. The tube has a thin funnel on top that helps significantly with the delicate wear and tear of things. However, with larger gaps, it was more convenient for me to squeeze things out on a piece of paper and then use a shaping tool to insert it into the "hole". I tried to press the stuff as deep as possible into the slits so that when the material dries it holds the rubber firmly.
The material shrinks during drying, so after two hours it was possible to see again where the joints of the parts were. So I applied a second coat of green stuff and carefully pressed it. After drying, I removed the excess stuff with shaping tools and shaped it according to the surfaces of the parts.
Finally, I smoothed the texture of the green stuff with sandpaper so that after painting I would not notice a difference in the texture of different parts.
GORAN: //DEJA VU// In parallel with our dog tinkering, the guys from Domagoj’s Slow Grow League did one 40k game - this time two on two - Dark Eldar & Co against some SMs.
MARKO: I informed the guys about my assignment for this week. I browsed the internet and concluded a few things in vain. The origins of the Breton knights are like dry gold. But that’s why I found, hopefully adequate, a replacement in the Fireforge Games figures for Deus Vult. The box is called Western Knights. There are just 12 of them inside (six on each side), and they all ride barded horses and have options for all 12 spears… In addition, I found adequate figures for the audience. Fenryll civilians.
Feel free to contact us here if you are interested! We are every Wednesday from 6 pm to 10 pm in KD ZZTK on Trg žrtava fašizma 14.

Marko Paunović, 25th May 2022During the weekend 21.-22.5.2022. vignette and diorama base making workshop was held. Participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the materials and tools for making dioramas and, after acquiring theoretical knowledge, apply the same to a practical example. This article will briefly describe the process of making this diorama.
The first step, after making the draft, is to make the base for the diorama. We decided to cast in gypsum so it was first necessary to make a mold. The underside of the mold was plain overhead transparencies that we placed on a 1: 1 scale base design. We fastened the foil with crepe tape. Another way is to draw the shape of the base directly on the foil with a permanent marker (note that in this case the left becomes the right or to mirror the drawing). We made the frame of the mold from balsa 5 mm thick, and the insert with which we made a water basin from two pieces of balsa glued to each other. Another option is to cut that styrofoam insert. We glued the balm with super foil glue (in two points for easier separation), while we fastened the balm laths on the contacts with pins.
Then we mixed the plaster. Gypsum from a hobby shop was used (for approx. 30-40 kn / kg). It is mixed with water so that a slightly liquid mixture is obtained, so that it can leak on its own, but it is not watery. We filled the mold, making sure that the plaster entered the thin parts around the pool intended for rubber. After drying for about an hour, we removed the casting from the mold and patched all possible defects and holes with DAS clay. When everything was dry, we sanded the excess.
Then we started building the base superstructure. The photographs show the production using DAS clay. It is more durable because it requires drying for at least 24 hours, so we decided at the workshop to cut the superstructure from styrofoam.
This was followed by modeling the terrain using DAS clay, to which we only added volume in certain places and plotted the texture. We coated everything with gypsum or PVA glue and set the sand texture in two granulations. During the creation of the terrain shape, we set up human parts of the diorama (barrel and pier) every now and then to check the positions and relationships between the parts of the diorama. The barrel is a 3D resin print while we made the pier from balsa boards 2 and 5 mm thick. We carefully cut each board individually and glued them together with superglue.
PAINTING OF THE METAL BARREL:
The last step of the first day of the Workshop was to give the basic color to the barrels. We did this using Citadel acrylic paints: Runefang Steel and two layers of wash from the same company: Nuln Oil and Reikland Fleshshade. Then the next day we coated the barrel with the Heavy Chipping effect of Ammo by Mig Jimenez and sprayed it with yellow acrylic spray. After drying for about 10 minutes, remove the excess yellow color using soft ear sticks and the remains of soft balsa slats. After additional drying, we added rusty effects using Oilbrusher oil paints (Rust and Orange) and removed the excess with Odourless Thinner from the same company.
PAINTING OF THE BASE:
We painted the base with Pebeo Deco acrylic paints. They have more pigment than Citadel paint, but it is also a coarser pigment so it is suitable for the drybrush method. It is significantly lower in price, so it is suitable for large areas. We painted the lower part of the base (immersed in slice / water) in shades of green with the colors that were available to us, considering that three layers of resin go on that part.
PAINTING A WOODEN PIER:
Painting of the pier was started using different Citadel washes (Nuln Oil, Agrax Earthshade and Seraphim Sepia). Each board in its own wash and after drying in another layer of Nuln Oil wash to connect into one whole. This was followed by a layer of drybrush in a light gray shade. In the end, everything is painted with oil effects (Oilbrusher: Olive Green and Dark Green).
PREPARATION OF SELF-MADE VEGETATION:
We made sedges and water lilies in our own hands. We made water lilies from a DAS clay disk with a hole for a pin, and the flower was drawn on paper and cut out. The sedge, on the other hand, was made on a pin, on top of which we glued sand with superglue to get a flower. And the leaves are cut from pre-colored paper to green.
STORE-BOUGHT VEGETATION:
From the purchased vegetation we used static grass (Citadel, Green Stuff World, etc.), sod (tufts) (Gamer's Grass, Green Stuff World, Ammo by Mig Jimenez), shrubs (Green Stuff World, Martin Welberg Scenic Studios, Diorama Presepe), flowers (Diorama Presepe). We also used wood roots (which you can find in forests on overturned trees) as dried trees.
UV RESIN:
For the water effect, we used a UV resin from Green Stuff World. It is easy to use because the resin is one-component and requires only pouring into your "pool". After pouring the first layer, we "baked" it with a UV lamp (also from Green Stuff World). When the layer dried, we covered it with Marabu green alcohol wash. We repeated the same step three times putting in fewer and fewer washes. After the last layer of UV resin, we did not put any ink.
Then we continued with the vegetation, moving first from the lower to the higher.
And with that we finished making the base for the diorama.
Potom smo krenuli u izradu nadgrađa baze.
Tijekom izrade oblika terena, svako toliko smo postavljali ljudske dijelove diorame (bačva i molo) kako bismo provjerili pozicije i odnose među dijelovima diorame. Bačva je 3D rezinski print dok smo molo izradili iz daski balze debljine 2 i 5 mm. Pažljivo smo izrezali svaku dasku ponaosob i zaljepili ih superljepilom.
To smo uradili koristeći akrilne boje tvrtke Citadel: Runefang Steel i dva sloja wash-a iste tvrtke: Nuln Oil i Reikland Fleshshade.
BOJANJE BAZE:
Bazu smo bojali Pebeo Deco akrilnim bojama.
IZRADA VLASTITE VEGETACIJE:
Šaš i lopoče smo izradili u samoizradi.
KUPOVNA VEGETACIJA:
Od kupovne vegetacije koristili smo statičku travu (Citadel, Green Stuff World itd), busenje (tuftove) (Gamer's Grass, Green Stuff World, Ammo by Mig Jimenez), grmlje (Green Stuff World, Martin Welberg Scenic Studios, Diorama Presepe), cvijeće (Diorama Presepe).
UV REZIN:
Za vodeni efekt koristili smo UV rezin tvrtke Green Stuff World.
I time smo završili izradu baze za dioramu.

Marko Paunović, 17th May 2022We left Zagreb around 7 am and arrived at half past 10 in Pivka, Slovenia for the 14th Festival Svet V Malem.
After registering and setting up our exhibits, we re-parked the car according to the organizers' instructions and used the time before the competition to visit the Museum of Military History and pleasant and surprisingly cheap coffee.
MARKO: After the opening, my appointment for an eye coloring workshop soon followed, which I did at the invitation of our Slovenian friend from Miniatures.si, Bineta Logra. I used the miniature Eyes of the Danish company Nordlys Miniatures.
After the workshop, we went on a tour of over 500 works by more than 160 miniaturists and modelers from 6 countries. In addition to sightseeing, we also chose the Best of Show by UMS Agram. Eventually the choice fell on the Westfront 1918 bust of Italian miniaturist Pietro Todar. In addition to that bust, he had other notable works (like Dr. Frankenstein).
KRUNO: Although I didn't know until the last minute whether I would join the UMS "Agram" expedition in the campaign on SVM, I admit… it was great. The location of the Museum of Military History was a great idea, because the exhibits of the museum exhibition became the backdrop of the competition, which created an interesting contrast. The hosts were very kind and well organized, I did not notice any major problems with the schedule or organization. The workshops were appropriate and interesting, and the offer of models and materials caused salivation and awakened Gollum in me. I was also surprised by the number of visitors.
KRUNO: It was interesting to watch so many different models and ideas in one place. Of course, some of them were more "cool" than others, but all of them showed the effort and love for the hobby. Special to me were those who told a story of their own. He could watch them for hours and imagine what was going on, what the miniatures were talking about or why they were in such a state, what they had all survived. It was interesting to watch the models in the junior competition and remember their beginnings… in the last century. I definitely recommend a visit to the next SVM, especially if it will be held at the same location. And I will try and do something until the next competition that will be able to compete at least to some extent with the quality of the exhibits.
GORAN: What impressed me in this visit is the fact that our neighbors manage to cash in on everything, including the memories of the former common state. Regarding the competition itself, it was done correctly, although 1-2 categories of figures would no longer be out of place. The level and number of exhibits was quite good for a competition like this, so we made nice friendships and contacts with several fellow miniaturists. From the organizational point of view, the only thing that didn't suit me personally was the fact that the awards ceremony was held in a cramped space with a lot of echo, which is why we couldn't hear or understand much. This shortcoming can be seen through the fingers, given that there was a significant downpour just before the award, but I have the impression that it would be held in the same space regardless of weather conditions. All in all, a nicely filled one-day trip, crowned with a medal in the K-1 category, some purchased material, and beautiful memories.
Overall, there was a lot of socializing, good food, but also medals (the total number of members of UMS "Agram" won pleasantly surprised us) as well as good shopping.

" ["content_hrv"]=> string(14395) "Krenuli smo oko 7 ujutro iz Zagreba i stigli u pola 10 u Pivku u Sloveniji na 14. Festival Svet V Malem.
Uz razgledavanje, birali smo i Best of Show by UMS Agram.
Iznenadio me i broj posjetitelja.

Marko Paunović, 2nd May 2022In this series of articles, we will follow our Goran, Kruno, Dalibor, Nino, Jelena, Domagoj, Borna and Marko in making a diorama / game board for the side game Full Tilt from the '90s. The board and miniatures are part of the new UMS “Agram” project called Agram Group Build which was created so that more people could participate in one joint project at the same time and learn something with fun. No prior knowledge or experience is important. With our experienced miniaturists, everyone will learn something.
Although there was no plan to work on the terrain, Marko caught some time between instructions and put the base layers on the base. He started with a thatched roof on which he put a base coat of ocher paint and after drying put a wash of darker shades.
After that, he put the basic layers of paint on the texture of the earth, in two shades.
He was accompanied in the hobby section by Kruno, Bero, who came from Hamburg, and Jelena, who came from Seattle.
Bero was on the "receiving end" of the instructions and painted BB and Malifaux figures, Kruno cleaned the trees he swiped from Sljeme, and Jelena painted the audience for our project # 4.
In parallel with the hobby section, a demo was held at the Heavy Gear Blitz. Goran explained the basic rules of the game to Domagoj.
And during that time, 40k was played on the mezzanine!
If you are interested in participating, contact us at ums.agram@gmail.com! We meet every Wednesday from 18-22h in KD ZZTK on Trg žrtava fašizma 14.

Tablu i minijature rade u sklopu novog projekta UMS „Agram“ pod nazivom Agram Group Build koji je nastao kako bi više ljudi sudjelovalo istovremeno na jednom zajedničkom projektu i uz zabavu nešto i nauče. Nije bitno predznanje niti iskustvo.

Marko Paunović, 2nd May 2022By changing the rules in GW games, there has also been an increase in the radius of the bases on which the pieces come. Since a lot of players have based figures according to older rules, a problem arises. How to change the bases, and to be simple and without potential damage to the figures.
Therefore, we designed a base insert that fits the existing smaller base. The free stl can be found here. Feel free to download and use it for your armies!*
The following is a short tutorial on how to rebase your figures on the 40k Ork example. Glue your existing base into the insert. Then fill the hole with air drying clay (as in the pictures) or some putty. Add the texture as on the original base, paint and place the vegetation as you used before.
And that's it. Your figure is rebased and there is no difference!
*thanks to our club friend Zlatko Grom who made the stl!

Goran Krunić, 26th April 2022We arrived around 9:30 in the morning, starting from Sopnica in the eastern part of Zagreb around 5 in the morning, we would have left earlier, but I turned off the alarm just in time.
A cheerful five-member crew of which only me and the road leader Josip went with the intention of participating and exhibiting at the show, he brought home and wallpaper for the animated picture, while I brought one bust, 3 figures and eyes from a miniature painting workshop from February .
The hall is quite an impressive building called the United Foam Manufacturers Arena (UFM), so we accidentally parked a little too far from it, as we were guided by navigation via address rather than actual location. It was already very crowded from the early morning, but despite that, we successfully completed the process of registration and submitting the model for trial and competition in 10-15 minutes.
Given that this is one of the two largest model-miniature competitions in Europe, the space where exhibitors sold hobby equipment and models was, to put it mildly, impressive. There was really everything, from a variety of tools, models, models, busts, paints, brushes, glue, etc. The exhibition space itself was organized in two locations, side by side. The already mentioned UFM Arena, as well as the school next door.
I only discovered the said school on Sunday, but I was really impressed with the amount of exhibitors they placed in the classrooms, ground floor and first floor of the school.
Among other things, I was fascinated by something that, despite considerable interest, is almost impossible to buy in any form in Zagreb, and that is wooden stands for busts and figures (plinths). I took myself and Marko a few pieces, it’s always a welcome purchase.
As for the exhibited models from a miniaturistic perspective, the quality of painting was really enviable, and at first I was convinced that our best miniaturists would not easily get medals, but in the meantime I learned that the way of judging is such that every exhibition satisfies the judge the criterion for a bronze, silver or gold medal, he really gets that medal. This seems fairer but also requires significantly higher costs due to the possible number of medals required.
I took the opportunity to give a few gifts, primarily to Miklos Bute as one of the organizers and Zoltán Budavári, the owner of Buco Model Base, this little token of attention consisted of our bag containing one of our monographs and homemade cherry liqueur, made with love by my mother.
I also met Bine Logar from Slovenia, our dear friend and welcome guest and exhibitor at Black Queen.
Then, with Marko's wholehearted help, I set out on the challenging task of awarding our Best of Show as voted by UMS Agram Medal. This was not an easy task considering the already mentioned high quality of paintjobs.
However, in the end, we unanimously decided to award it to Roberto Del Cima, because of the extraordinarily painted bust of a woman in a war environment, which at the time of writing this text has a lot of weight and meaning.
Roberto is a very kind and approachable person, who tirelessly and superbly paints miniatures, even on the show itself.
We attended the awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon. I can proudly say that several Croatian and Agram miniaturists and modelers have won notable awards. The organizer also thanked us in front of the full hall for the gifts, which I consider an extremely nice gesture on their part.
Finally, I would like to mention the considerable "catch" of the purchased goods from the show, in addition to the already mentioned wooden stands, I bought a few busts - The bootsman, Mexican Outlaw (to me personally the most impressive of all because of the details on the face), Zombie Knight Anu, who loves the subject), Crabcather, and Samurai Daimyo. I also bought a Renault Alpine A110 model on a smaller scale for a very affordable price considering the quality of the model.
In addition to the mentioned items, I also bought the entire collection of miniatures from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise at Brother Vinnie's stand, thus rounding off the already meaningful and fulfilling weekend.
Zatim sam, uz Markovu svesrdnu pomoć, krenuo u zahtjevan zadatak dodjeljivanja naše Best of show as voted by UMS Agram medalje.
U nedjelju popodne smo nazočili dodjeli nagrada.
