Skeletor
It seems that the trend of improving the figures has prevailed among the collectors of the Masters of the Universe. A colleague from work decided to take a risk and offer me to tidy up Skeletor a bit by painting his head.
The original color was a kind of "nervous" green and peeled in places. But I didn't want to take any chances and try to remove it with acetone (or something similar) so as not to damage the surrounding plastic (because the agreement was to just paint my "face"). So after cleaning I put on a gray primer that clung poorly to the substrate so I needed three coats.
First I thought to put some kind of middletone, wash it (Agrax Earthshade) and then make highlites. At the last minute I changed my mind and decided to go for the basecoat with the darkest color (Scalecolor Walnut). After the basecoat (2 coats) was done, I added Vallejo Game Color Bone to the base color and worked highlights until I came up with a clean VGC Bone. The new highlight was covering a shrinking area. In the end, I performed extreme highlites with a mix of VGC Bone and white.
I darkened the basic color (Walnut) with black in two steps and used these shades to create the deepest shadows (nostrils, eye sockets, jaw angles, etc.). In the end, I painted "glow" in the eye sockets with a few shades of red, orange and yellow.
Personally, I like the matte finish, but I used satin polish here because it fits better with the rest of the plastic figure.
