Diorama USSR 1986 – part 6
In this series of articles, I will write about making a USSR diorama in 1986. I will show how I made the "terrain" and the model myself, how I painted them and what effects I used. In addition, vegetation and resin will be discussed.
Last time we finished with the interior of the UAZ, so this, the last, article will be dedicated to the exterior cladding of the van. The first thing I did was paint the metalwork with a brush and then randomly covered the parts with Scratches and Heavy Chipping effects. After that, I painted the model with two yellow sprays.
When the spray dried, I glued the masking tape over the parts I didn't want to paint a different color and applied a layer of spray again, this time red.
After removing the masking tape, I "peeled" the paint on the parts that were coated with Scratches and Heavy Chipping effects. The next step was to add rust oil effects.
Then I added stickers. For help, I used Ammo by Mig decal effects (Decal Set and Decal Fix) which really help when sticking decals.
The final step was to add pigments. I used crepe tape to protect the parts where the wipers move - so that the part is less oily. During the construction, I used a compass to get a circular segment, and I determined the radii after measuring the wiper itself.
In the end, I just needed to place the model on the base.
