Heavy Gear Blitz Diorama – part 4.
I made this diorama over 5-6 months (20-25 hours of work in total) in 2022.
In the following articles, I will cover the production thematically through the following units:
• Painting, camouflage and weathering on figures (robots and trucks)
• Manufacturing and installation of parachutes
• Making the base
• Adding Texture
• Painting of palm trees - already described here.
• Additional vegetation
• Adding narrative details to the diorama (foot with rocket launcher, landing ramp on the plane, camouflage tarp on the trucks).
Adding Texture
After the acrylic paste dried and hardened, I started texturing the rainforest floor. For this purpose, I used more pigments of reddish-ground and lighter tones for the road through the rainforest. I wouldn't go into the details of the tones used here too much, except that I dosed the pigments directly from their bottles, because otherwise I would have spent a lot more time on this step. In the same way, attention should be paid to the dosage of the pigment fixer, because otherwise it very easily dissolves the pigment and creates messy stains. After fixing the pigments, let the fixer dry completely for 12-24 hours.
The result after drying can be seen in the pictures below:
I also used electrician's plaster, the advantage of which is that it dries completely in no more than 20 minutes, to fill the outer edges of the blue Styrodur hills. After the plaster dried, I smoothed it with Green Stuff World sanding sponges:
