Stegadon Conversion – part 5
In this, the last article on this topic, I finish the Mazdamundi model. With Mazdamundi itself - who would have thought. The Slanna model itself is relatively simple and was painted in an hour, but his armchair, throne, toilet, whatever you call it...that's another story.
So starting with Mazdamundi, I followed the pictures of how it looks in the game Total War: Warhammer 2 and tried to get that effect. I'm in love with those colors and the vibe it gives off, like an angry boss or Boss Nass from Phantom Menace.
The back is dark red, the front is beige with a contrast from the zenith prime as a guide, the crown on the neck is golden. The tattoos are freehand handprints from the Skinks. I decided to black out the upper part of his face to look like war paint, I like that effect. Black color, over it a slight brown-gray highlight and pure yellow eyes.
The armchair is much more complex, it has a lot of details in itself and this greenery that twists all over adds more weight to the coloring in between. I tried using a diluted gold to serve as a color contrast over the zenithal prime, but I didn't like that and just painted most of it solid. When I did this, I noticed that I had too much gold on the model, so to break it up, I decided to use jade embellishment, ie at least an approximation of the jade I was getting from mixing my greens and blues.
The overgrown ivy is painted dark green and then a layer of light green as a highlight. The horns were made in a similar way as on the Stegadon.
I also added the hammer that is formally in the story, a conversion from a couple of saurus warrior weapons. Pinnan on the armchair so that it looks as if he is about to take it in his hand.
After painting the last parts, I put everything together and glued the parts. The armchair is a combination of a long pin and a magnet, so it can be removed for portability.
I'm happy with the final result - I think I hit the maximum effect I wanted to achieve. I wish I had hit harder on the contrast of the overall model, more difference in the dark and light parts, and I definitely plan to finish the plants on a base one day. But the lessons I learned from this are great and I have more ideas for this army, it's going to be a fun rest of the year.
